Running for jo ❤️

The best teachers educate with their hearts , not just their minds

Jo leahy is a wonderful kindergarten teacher who has become a loving , trusted friend to many parents, someone who doesn’t just care for our children but inspires them to be more .

All parents want someone special to teach their little ones - jo has been that person.

Late 2019 , jo became very ill with a rare and inoperable bile duct cancer ,

Cholangiocarcinoma.

Jo now has a tumour on her liver; the pace of growth has been aggressive.

Just before Christmas jo began her first course of chemotherapy.

Since that time she has become increasingly unwell, requiring constant visits to accident and emergency.

Her life is now punctuated with frequent admissions to hospital.

Jo has been struggling with pneumonia, most recently requiring two blood transfusions.

The state of her health has meant a temporary stop to the chemotherapy but in that time the tumour on her liver has been growing.

Jo’s first love is her family: son George (15) , daughter Nita (10) , and husband, Dave .

With jo becoming so unwell so rapidly and not being able to work since August 2019.

Dave , has needed to take time off work to be with his wife at this time of need .

I’ve decided to run the Christchurch motorway half marathon on March 1st dedicating the run to jo .

I feel driven to do what I can for Jo and am asking for your support.

Jo is a young and vibrant mother, beautiful inside and out , with a huge heart.

I know if it was anyone else going through this terrible time Jo would be the first person wanting to help .
