Back in March my brother Daniel and his fiancé Renee had their world turned upside-down when Renee started experiencing headaches, confusion and was rushed to Christchurch hospital when she started exhibiting stroke-like symptoms. Once there, MRI’s revealed 5 growths on her brain. Renee later underwent brain surgery for a biopsy and had further MRI’s to try and determine what was going on, but results were inconclusive with doctors admitting they’d never seen anything like it and that sadly, things were slowly getting worse.
3 months down the track things haven’t improved. Renee now lives with major cognitive challenges and has lost the ability to speak- a heartbreaking change for someone who was once so full of energy, warmth and laughter.
She’s not just fighting for her health, she’s fighting to be present for her family! Renee n Daniel are devoted parents to 2 awesome wee girls who are watching their brave mum struggle through something that no family should.
Daniel has been a real trooper throughout, putting everything on hold including his business to care for her full time, which has taken a major toll both emotionally and financially.
With more tests and treatments and so much uncertainty ahead I’ve decided to make this page to fundraise and try rally as much support to their cause as possible!
To encourage support I will be running a kilometre for every $10 raised with all proceeds going directly to the account of Renee and Daniel.
