Raising money for Men's Mental Health by Running in speedos.
Auckland
I will be running the Round the bays in speedos to raise awareness for these groups. The speedo aspect is for three reasons.
1) People will laugh
2) Finn would have a laugh
3) I am going to laugh too.
The first time I ran this was also in speedos, and it was to raise money for me to go to the Water polo Commonwealth Champs in Scotland where I was lucky enough to be a teammate of Finn. This will be a good throwback to those times.
Last year I did the same, raising money for Men's mental Health while giving everyone a little smile by running in speedos across the Auckland Waterfront. I will be splitting the funds 50/50 with the Finn Lowery Foundation and Movember. Hopefully raise a little more than last year. I have added some quotes from both of their websites.
"Men are dying before their time. But you can help us change and save lives. Mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer – we’re taking them all on.
Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up research and motivating men to take action for their health." - Movember
"Here at The Finn Lowery Foundation, we aim to promote and support mental health and wellness among young people in the water polo community. We strive to help people gain access to mental health and wellness resources and, in acute cases, link them with medical professionals. Our community includes the North Harbour Water Polo Club and the wider water polo community." - FLF
I was a team member and a friend of the person of whom the charity is named after.
To be split 50/50 with FLF and the Movember foundation
