Mates running in the Hawkes Bay Marathon
Our best mate (Dutchie) had an unfortunate accident while working in Ireland late last year. The fall has left him paralysed and unable to walk. He is back at home now and has recently returned to work.
Living so far away, we have found it hard to show our support to him. He has become a bit of an inspiration to us and we'd love a chance to show him that whatever happens we'll be there every step of the way.
Coming from Hawkes Bay, we thought a good way to get involved would be to run in the Hawkes Bay Marathon on 13 May 2017. We will be entering the half marathon and 10km events and attempting to shift our rigs as quickly around the course as we can.
While we don't profess any talent in the running game, we have learnt from Dutchie's accident that any step we get to take is a gift.
We would love people to get involved, either by running in the event themselves or helping fund this page.
Any money raised will go to help Dutchie and his family with the transition into everyday life. There are obviously large costs involved in this and any help we can give will go a long way. We also hope that some money will help with any travel expenses they may have for a return trip back to New Zealand.
