Sally the Greyhound

  • HELP

      9 August 2017

First, we can't thank you enough for all the help we have been given and I am reluctant to do this but I am afraid we still need help..

I have detailed the costs and we still have a short fall of $2251.

If there is any way you can dig a little deeper or have a fund raiser of some sort, we would really appreciate it.

I am sure I have dog "stuff" I can donate for a raffle if some one has the time to run it.

If we can't pay it virtually straight away, then a caveat is put on Jo's house which is a further $500.

I am in the process of putting to-gether the full story, pitfalls and outcomes which may be of use to some people if they are ever in the same unfortunate position. This will be available on request.

    Sally costs

    First Lawyers Fees $862.00

    Legal Aid costs $686.55

    Legal Aid costs $1,097.10

    Fines:Allowed her to escape $600.00

Fines: Caused harm to another animal $600.00

    Reimbursement to cat owner $400.00

    Total $4,245.65

    Give a little $1,995.00

    Shortfall $2,250.65

I would also like to try and give Michelle something for the ongoing costs that Sally will incur as she is now starting to suffer from arthritis.

  • The verdict.

      7 August 2017

Court to-day and what a harrowing experience!

SALLY IS NOT TO BE PUT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!

She is being reclassified as a dangerous dog with conditions the same as what she is had had and will be living out her retirement at Michelle's place. There is more to say but I will think on it overnight and put a more in depth response up to-morrow. There have been fines imposed as the courts feel that an example needed to be set but not as much as what Council had asked for. There have been some very interesting results which I will go in to further to-morrow! But we can all sleep easy tonight! Thank you so much for everyone's support!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The latest

      27 July 2017

The lawyer has revised her account to what was originally quoted so that is a very positive note.

The submissions have been sent to the court and the legal team at the Waikato Council.

Court Date is now set as 7th August at 10.00 am.

We have prepared as much as we can and it is now out of our hands. Sally, Michelle, Jo, and Georgie and co have done all they can and it is all now quite literally up to the courts.

We can not thank you enough for all the support shown, both financially and morally and we are praying for a positive out come.

    Deep breaths everyone.

  • And more Lawyers

      19 July 2017

The latest news. We are still waiting on the second lawyer to get back to Jo. She (Jo) is away for a couple of days and will chase it up on her return.

Meanwhile, the first lawyer has sent an account for nearly $1000 which we are disputing. Firstly because it is way over her quote and second because she did not finish what she contracted to do. We had been under the understanding that because she could not attend court and we were going to have to get another lawyer, she was going to reduce, if not waive her charge. Not the case.

This becomes more of a nightmare every day. but we are doing the best we can. Deep breaths everyone

  • Lawyers!

      14 July 2017

We have been to a lawyer who arranged a change of date. The Date that was put down on the calendar by the judge was changed again and was one she could not attend so we have a new lawyer who has just got back from a break. This one has spoken to Jo and has a basic understanding of the case. She has said she will go over all the case notes this weekend (15/7/17) and get back to Jo then. Hopefully, we will have more news after this.

Sorry for the delay in posting this but we have just been treading water at this stage.

  • Latest News.

      30 June 2017

The lawyer has been engaged and the submission date has changed to 21 July. Gives us some more time.

We are visiting the lawyer next week so will have a better understanding of what we can do. Meanwhile, Sally is still enjoying her retirement with Michelle.

Thank you once again for all your support!

  • Staggering!

      24 June 2017

We are so thankful and I know more than I have been reduced to tears by the support and generosity of those who have contributed to our "fighting fund". It doesn't matter if the donation is $1 or $200, it all comes from the heart and means so much to us.

The lawyer has been engaged thanks to you all.

Our next submissions were supposed to be to the courts by 1st July but we are going to try for a delay to give the lawyer a chance to go over the many documents we have.

    Fingers crossed!!

    Christine
