When New Zealanders need us, we need you.

This Christmas The Salvation Army expects to see over 16,000 people who are in desperate need.
It takes a lot of courage to come to The Salvation Army to ask for help. When people do, they are usually at crisis point and looking for immediate practical relief with food, housing, clothing or furnishings. But that is just the beginning of the longer term wrap around support the Sallies provide through their teams of social workers, counsellors, addiction rehabilitation programmes, life skills coaches and financial mentors—who work alongside the client to help them achieve their life goals.
For individuals and families who are living day to day, just one unexpected event such as a car breaking down, sickness or a change in employment or housing can be the difference between surviving and not. And at Christmas the additional pressures place even greater strain on those who are vulnerable. That’s why we need your help.
This Christmas, more than 16,000 Kiwis, including 5,000 families, are expected to walk through The Salvation Army doors.
Your donation will help provide a range of immediate and long-term support—like food parcels, accommodation and advocacy, counselling, budgeting and education.
To see how your donation transforms lives and make incredible changes possible, take a moment to hear from Lex and Sia (above video) who have come from their darkest moments last Christmas to a place of joy and hope this year.
Since 1883, The Salvation Army has been there to help more than 120,000 families and individuals in need each year—with budgeting advice, food and clothing assistance, life skills programmes and other comfort and support.
