In Loving Memory of Sam Lau

On 21 November 2016, my late father suffered a severe asthma attack due to the thunderstorm asthma event. Sam was hospitalised and remained in the Intensive Care Unit at Austin Hospital, Heidelberg, Melbourne for 8 days. Despite medical intervention, Sam tragically passed away surrounded by his family on 29 November 2016.

Sam was a much loved father, brother and son and is survived by his wife Elsa and four children Marty (26), Sheila (25), Jet (10) and Julia (3).

Sam was a genuine family man who always put his family first. Having come from a poverty-stricken area of China, he came to New Zealand in search of a better life. It was in New Zealand that he met his partner Elsa and started a family together. Dad was passionate about aviation and held a commercial pilots license.

At only 49 years of age, Dad was taken from us far too soon and unexpectedly. I know that Dad did not want to leave us, especially my mum, Jet and Julia who were dependent on him for love and support.

I have set this up to help with the funeral and legal costs associated with repatriating my father back to our home - New Zealand. My father was the sole breadwinner at the time of his death and my mother is a stay-at-home wife with two young dependants.
