Sam’s Skate School offers free skate lessons to Kiwi kids—building confidence, community & resilience. Help us keep the wheels turning!
Bay of Plenty
Every Friday in Pāpāmoa, kids of all backgrounds gather at the local park – not just to learn skateboarding, but to find confidence, community, and a sense of belonging.
I’m Sam, founder of Sam’s Skate School. For the past five years, we’ve offered free skateboarding lessons to tamariki and rangatahi across the Bay of Plenty. We’ve taught over 3,000 kids – some facing big challenges at home, others just needing a positive outlet. Skateboarding gives them more than a skill; it gives them resilience, joy, and a place to be themselves.
We do this because we believe every child deserves the chance to roll forward in life, regardless of their background or ability to buy a skateboard or pay for lessons.
We’ve built ramps from scratch, donated gear, and watched kids light up as they land their first drop in. But as more kids join us, the need for support is growing.
Your donation will help us:
Provide skateboards and safety gear
Provide T-Shirts and stickers we give as prizes
Reach more communities around the Bay
Every dollar helps us keep these sessions free, safe, and accessible for all. Whether it’s $5 or $50, your support helps us put smiles on faces and wheels under feet.
We’re incredibly proud of the recognition Sam’s Skate School has received across Aotearoa. These features highlight the positive impact our free skateboarding lessons are having on tamariki and rangatahi in the Bay of Plenty:
Ngā mihi for backing our kaupapa and helping more kids ride strong!
Provide skateboards and safety gear
Provide T-Shirts and stickers we give as prizes
Reach more communities around the Bay
