Help Me Complete My Recovery: Medical Treatment and Further Surgery Fund

Auckland

My name is Ayush Rawat, a 2025 graduate of NZMA, Auckland, where I completed my studies in Hotel Management. I am reaching out with an urgent request for support as I continue to battle a severe intestinal infection and remain under treatment at Christchurch Hospital, New Zealand.

What was meant to be the beginning of my professional career has unexpectedly turned into a major medical crisis. Since my admission to the hospital, I have undergone six surgeries and have been advised that I will need at least three more operations as part of my ongoing treatment and recovery.

The financial impact has been overwhelming. My medical expenses have already exceeded NZD $290,000 with costs continuing to rise due to further complications.

After graduation, I secured a job offer and applied for an Accredited Employer Work Visa. While waiting for my visa application to be processed, I was on an interim visa and unfortunately did not have medical insurance coverage when this medical emergency occurred.

This situation has placed an enormous emotional, physical, and financial burden on both me and my family.

I humbly ask for your support during this difficult time. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help me continue receiving the treatment I need and ease the financial pressure on my family. If you are unable to donate, simply sharing my story would mean a great deal.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support. Every contribution and every share helpsI

Help Me Complete My Recovery: Medical Treatment and Further Surgery Fund  22 June 2026

I am sharing my story to seek support for the final and most important stage of my medical recovery.

Over the past several months, I have undergone extensive medical treatment and multiple surgeries following serious health complications. These procedures saved my life and stabilized my condition, but my recovery is not yet complete.

As part of my treatment, I required a colostomy. Living with a colostomy has brought significant physical and emotional challenges, affecting my independence, confidence, and quality of life. Despite these difficulties, I have remained committed to my recovery and followed all medical advice.

My surgeons have now recommended two medically necessary procedures:

• Colostomy Reversal Surgery – to reconnect my bowel and potentially eliminate the need for a permanent colostomy, helping restore normal function and independence.

• Reconstructive Plastic Surgery – to repair damage caused by previous surgeries and complications, improve healing, reduce discomfort, and restore mobility and confidence.

These operations are essential to completing my recovery. The estimated cost is NZD 50,000, which is beyond my financial means after all the previous medical expenses.

Any support will go directly toward these vital procedures and help me move closer to living a healthy, independent life again. If you are unable to donate, sharing my story would mean a lot.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
