We request your help to fund our July 10th High Court Judicial Review, so we can fully protect Carrington Hospital's Building One heritage.

Point Chevalier, Auckland

We're off to the High Court, Monday July 10th, challenging Auckland Council's approved consent to partially demolish the listed Category 1 historic Carrington Hospital 1865-1905 ( Unitec's Building One, Pt Chevalier, Auckland 1022).

Our barrister has filed at the High Court, seeking a Judicial Review.

We've tried to negotiate a better roading solution around Building One, not through it.

We've had a petition to The Crown, feel free to sign.

Civic Trust Auckland is supportive of the Point Chevalier Social Enterprise Trust in its plan for a community wellbeing hub in Building One. We supported the Trust’s objection to partial demolition of this Category 1 heritage building, and its view that required road access could be redesigned without compromising the building’s heritage value. It is not easy fighting battles to save heritage and so we congratulate the Trust on its efforts. We are saddened that it was not successful in this instance, but we encourage others to take up the challenges like the Point Chevalier Social Enterprise Trust has.
