Support Tahunanui's Appeal Over Airport Expansion

We LOVE Tahunanui and we want to keep it as a great place to live and play.

Tahuna's iconic and treasured character is under threat from the possible expansion of Nelson Airport as supported by Nelson City Council. Whilst we support the development and expansion of the Airport, we don't agree with the Plan Change 30 (PPC30) proposal.

We believe there are BETTER and CHEAPER alternatives that will alleviate the genuine threat to the social, health, well-being and safety of the Tahunanui Community. The future of the Nelson Golf Club, the Tahuna Beach Holiday Park and it's long-term residents, NatureLand and our future generations is also threatened.

This is not the legacy Nelson deserves.

The Tahunanui Business and Citizens Association feels we have no other alternative, other than appealing PPC30 and the Notice of Requirement and have our voice heard in the Environment Court. We need to raise funds to support the first phase towards mediation.

Any donation you could make will be gratefully received.

Use of funds

Funds raised will be used to support mediation with the Airport company and Nelson City Council prior to a full Environment Court hearing. If we don't reach our target, we will use funds raised to support local groups and projects.

It has been announced today that the TBCA has reached an agreement with Nelson Airport.

We could NOT have done this without your support, thank you very much, and it speaks volumes about what a wonderful, vibrant, caring community we have.

Let's move forward into 2026 and beyond, knowing Tahunanui is a great place to live, work and play.
