Fighting back against the mill closure in Tokoroa! SAVE OUR JOBS! SAVE OUR MILL!

Tokoroa, Waikato

On Wednesday 20th November, workers at the Kinleith Mill in Tokoroa were told that Oji Fibre Solutions is proposing to shut down paper production in June 2025.

This means 230 people will lose their jobs. The mill is the backbone of our town. If this goes ahead, the whole region will be impacted.

But if we come together, we can send a strong message to people with influence - such as Oji Fibre Solutions, the Mayor, Councillors, Politicians and ultimately, the Government.

We want to stop our jobs going overseas. We want long-term economic growth for our region. We want to Save Our Jobs and Save Our Mill!!

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

• SHOW UP to our community event on Friday 6 December, 6pm

• DONATE directly to this givealittle page - every little bit counts

• SHARE the event & the fundraiser on social media!

• SIGNS - fill out our form here & host a large sign on your fence, or poster in your shop window: https://tinyurl.com/5a2nkfks

All funds raised will go directly to the costs of printing signs, pamphlets & posters, and also running our community event on Friday 6 December.

We need to save our jobs - save our livelihood - and SAVE OUR MILL!

Note:

This event will be organised in collaboration with Raukawa, workers at the Mill, SWPICS, TCOSS, The Y, St Luke’s PIC Community Hall, & with support from Mayor Gary Petley.

If you’re a local business or organisation that wants to support too, we'd love to hear from you! Please get in touch: saveourmill886@gmail.com or flick Julius Daniels a message.

Save Our Mill's involvement (page creator)

The Save Our Mill group started in response to the mill closure. There are about 10 of us who are members of the Tokoroa community with different skill sets and backgrounds, coming together for the campaign. Ella was chosen to receive funds by the group.

Use of funds

All funds raised will go directly to the costs of printing and distributing campaign materials like signs, pamphlets and posters, and also of running our big campaign event on 6 December.

We hope to have some very special guests - watch this space!
