Help Rutherford College save our pool for future generations.
Te Atatu Peninsula, Auckland
THE POOL PROJECT
🎯 Current fundraising focus
Create a welcoming, functional, and safe environment around the pool, including: Replacing the current plumbing, Shaded seating, Pool cover, A vibrant community mural, Upgraded changing rooms.
Once this is completed we can open the pool during weekends and school holidays with qualified lifeguards on duty. Community members will be able to enjoy the facility for a gold coin donation.
Why This Matters
This project is about more than a pool.
It’s about:
Teaching lifesaving swimming skills
Supporting physical education and active lifestyles
Creating a safe, local space for families
Bringing our community together
Ensuring water safety education for future generations
By upgrading the pool area, we are transforming it into a welcoming hub that can serve both our students and the wider community.
Our Goal: $100,000
Your donation — big or small — will help us move into Phase Two and bring this vision to life.
Every contribution helps:
$20 supports seating materials
$50 helps replace the current broken plumbing
$150 contributes to shade coverage
$500 helps fund the pool cover
Larger gifts help bring the mural and full upgrade to completion
Together, we can create a facility the entire peninsula can enjoy.
Let’s make The Pool Project a reality — for our students, our families, and our wider community.

Update - Saving the pool is underway 16 March 2026
We are excited to share that Phase One of The Pool Project is now underway, thanks to the generous support of The Trusts Community Foundation (TTCF) and the hard work of Mattassa. Work has begun to restore and repaint the pool surface, ensuring it remains safe and usable for our students.
Our focus now for Giving Week (23-27 March) is Phase Two – upgrading the pool area.
During Giving Week (23–27 March) we are aiming to raise $50,000 to improve the area around the pool. Planned upgrades include shaded seating, a pool cover, a vibrant mural, and upgraded changing rooms, helping create a welcoming and functional area for both students and the wider community.
