Save the Selwyn Huts - an Entire Community Facing Eviction

Our beloved homes are under threat as the Selwyn District Council impose a finite 15-year maximum occupancy limit. We will get no compensation and are expected to pay thousands $ to demolish our warm, dry homes at the end of the term. We could lose our homes, paid for with our life savings, anywhere between 24hrs-15 years with the numerous loopholes & inhumane conditions forced upon us in the new Deed of Licence. The reasons for eviction don’t add up and we aren’t getting answers to our questions, adding to our stress and confusion. We call upon family and friends, near and far, to stand with us as we fight to protect our homes & way of life

In addition to the threat of losing the roof over our head, our license fees are set to increase by 224% on top of rates, making it even harder for us to save money, secure our future and pay for a lawyer
