We are seeking support to help a compassionate mother continue critical immunotherapy and survive advanced lung cancer.
Auckland
I am Kay, raising funds to save my mother, Mrs. Khin, who is bravely fighting Stage IIIB non-small cell lung cancer.
We are a small family from Myanmar, a country devastated by ongoing civil conflict. In 2025, our world collapsed. My father was diagnosed with vascular dementia, and my mother was found to have an 8 cm lung tumour and was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. She endured 30 rounds of radiotherapy and 5 cycles of chemotherapy, and against all odds, her tumour shrank to 3.5 cm. Doctors say this is a critical window: continuing treatment with Durvalumab (Imfinzi) immunotherapy for one year offers her the best chance of long-term survival. This treatment is especially important because her cancer has a very high PD-L1 level (95%), meaning it is highly responsive to immunotherapy and helps prevent recurrence.
Sadly, the cost of Durvalumab is overwhelming, and all our savings are now exhausted.
I am the sole financial supporter of my family and have just started working overseas in New Zealand. Unfortunately, my income cannot cover the cost of treatment, which is around NZD 150,000 for one year.
My mother is a deeply kind and positive-minded woman who has spent her life caring for others, especially stray dogs and cats, even when we had very little. Now, she needs help to survive.
This fundraiser is her only hope to continue treatment and live.
Every donation and share brings her closer to recovery.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping us save her life. ❤️
I am the daughter of the beneficiary and her sole financial supporter.
Funds cover 24 prescribed infusions of Durvalumab immunotherapy over one year, at an estimated cost of around NZD 6000 per dose, along with hospital infusion fees and related medical expenses. Treatment will be carried out in Myanmar at Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital. In total about NZD 150,000 is needed to complete the treatment.
