Supporting Paris to meet the costs of life-changing surgery!
Ashburton, Canterbury
For the past decade, Paris has struggled with severe chronic pelvic pain. Her pain has progressively gotten worse, and now at 23, the pain is so frequent and severe that she struggles to complete simple daily tasks. She has spent nights in the hospital due to her pain and is at a point where she can barely go a day without intense pain relief.
Last year, Paris was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and “suspected” endometriosis. To diagnose endometriosis, Paris will need to have an exploratory laparoscopy and will also need a hysteroscopy to investigate her condition further. Paris has already spent thousands on a private gynaecologist and has seen many specialists including dieticians, general surgeons and pelvic floor physiotherapists, all who have come up empty-handed in the search to end her pain.
The public health system is a nightmare and despite many referrals, they cannot help Paris. As well as this, Paris’ health insurance will not cover the procedure so her last resort is to go through private health care.
So I'm calling on all family, friends and kind-hearted strangers to join me in this fundraising journey to help Paris! With this surgery, we hope to find answers that can get her back to doing the things she loves!
St George’s Hospital has estimated the cost for a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy to be $15,000 (subject to change). This does not include any extended time, equipment or length of stay. That, included with give a little’s 5% service fee, our goal is $20,000.
