Ensuring survivors of domestic violence are empowered to have better life outcomes.
Nationwide
We work alongside survivors of domestic violence through their tertiary education journey and support them into their first job. RAISE UP Foundation scholarship recipients receive a full scholarship towards completing a level 7 tertiary qualification. This is paid over 3 years for full time study. They also receive up to $1000 each year for course related costs. Scholarship recipients are also paired with a mentor, who has previously completed a tertiary degree, to support them through their education journey. Scholarship recipient graduates are supported into their first jobs with CV and cover letter development and interviewing skills.
The impact we are looking to make is for survivors of domestic violence to have better life outcomes. In the short term, our recipients will be supported through their tertiary education. Going through tertiary education will help them to heal from their domestic violence experience by building their self-esteem and confidence. This will help them to have higher hopes for their own future and the future of their families.
In the medium term, this means that our recipients will have better opportunities within the work place and therefore have opportunities to earn a decent salary. By being in a position to improve their earning potential, our scholarship recipients can afford better housing, have access to healthy food and be more self-sufficient overall meaning less chance of them ending up in the position of living in a violent home again.
RAISE UP Foundation's vision is to ensure that survivors of domestic violence are empowered to have better life outcomes. Our mission is to empower survivors of domestic violence through opportunities of higher education, mentoring and networking.
The main purpose of this funding is to provide survivors of domestic violence with tertiary scholarships and support with course related costs. Funding will also be used to equip mentors with the necessary skills to be effective mentors.
