In memory of our friend, Apsara Wimalasiri, we are raising funds to purchase school supplies for rural Sri Lankan children.
Apsara was a teacher in Sri Lanka who came to New Zealand to study a Masters and then PhD in applied linguistics, with a goal of helping to support children’s bilingual education. However, she was cruelly killed in April 2022 and unable to fulfill her dream. Apsara’s heart was so big and she cared so much about education and Sri Lanka.
We are honouring her memory at the one year anniversary of her passing by raising funds to provide necessary school supplies for as many rural Sri Lankan children as the fundraising allows.
To support 1 student costs approximately $30 NZD ($20 USD). We hope you will join us in this memorial fundraiser.

Apsara was from rural Sri Lanka, and we will be sending the funds through her close friends back to Sri Lanka to provide the school materials for the beneficiary children.
Use of funds
We are raising funds for basic school supplies for rural Sri Lankan children. This includes backpacks, shoes, paper notebooks, and pencils/pens. For each $30NZD raised, we can provide these supplies for one child.
