'Scrap for Kea' is a non profit organization set up to raise awareness and support the Kea Conservation Trust.
Canterbury
Hello and welcome to the project!
Vision:
To raise awareness and support the protection group, The 'Kea conservation trust'.
Aim:
Gather a community group of volunteers, to gather recyclable scrap metal from industrial & residential areas to a supporting Christchurch Scrap metal yard, to not only clean up and recycle but donate 100% of proceeds to the "Kea Conservation Trust".
Some of the caring people of New Zealand have approached us asking how to donate directly to the cause considering they don't have scrap metal to donate.
Hence the creation of the 'Scrap for kea' give a little page. This page is also a great way to track the progress of our project!
What the project needs:
- caring volunteer scrap metal collectors
- A scrap metal transport vessel (trailer)
AND OF COURSE SCRAP METAL!

I consider myself an avid hiker and mountaineer who has spent many days in the Arthurs pass region, Southland.
Through these experiences, as many trampers and mountaineers alike have found a strong connection to this cheeky, inquisitive animal. Over time I've also become increasingly concerned with the protection of this national icon; the Kea.
This project was set up originally to raise awareness and fundraise for the Kea conservation trust, whilst also recycling unwanted scrap metal.
However, some of the public have asked how they can donate directly to the cause since they don't have any scrap metal to donate. Hence the creation of this page!
Thanks for your support! no matter how small, all contributions help :)
