Sea View Farm Fire Tragedy

$530 of $25,000 goal
Given by 16 generous donors in around 5 months

Kevin & Lindi Jones lost their farm equipment in a tragic fire. Help us get them a new hay baler to keep caring for their animals & farm.

Bay of Plenty

On the night of July 20 at around 10pm, the woolshed and workshop of farmers Kevin & Lindi Jones (our parents) went up in an inferno. Inside was almost everything they use to run the farm on a daily basis, from basic tools, to expensive machinery, to the electric fence unit that keeps the animals in the right paddock. At this time of year, most livestock farmers run at a deficit (a loss) while they raise their cattle to sell off months later. Luckily they have an amazing insurance company who have helped out as much as they can, but this simply can't cover everything.

The biggest loss for them is the hay baler. Without it, this summer they can't make hay to keep the cows and horses fed during the winter, or make hay for our neighbours, which is a crucial part of their income.

We need your help, please, to help our parents keep farming.

If you know Kevin Jones, you know he is the kindest, most helpful and generous man around, helping others at the drop of a hat. Dad works every day from dawn to dusk to provide for us, his four daughters, with mum by his side. We love our dad more than anything, and we want to help him like he helps us - without question - whenever we need it. Our mum works every day doing hard farm labour that even we couldn't do on a daily basis. She is an amazing woman, and has worked side by side with dad for years.

Over the past years, dad has also put thousands of dollars out of his own pocket to protect all the waterways on the farm by planting natives and fencing them off from cattle so that his farm does not add to the waterway pollution problems.

Help us give our parents a chance to get through another year, by helping us buy them a new hay baler!

We are also holding a Gala Day fundraiser event at Tauranga Riding for the Disabled this October to really make this a successful drive. For those who are able to attend and donate to our hay baler fund through a fun day, we would love to have you :)

Ashleigh Jones' involvement (page creator)

We are Angela, Caitlin, Ashleigh and Megan Jones.

We grew up loving life in rural New Zealand, thanks to our parents. Now, we have (almost) all left home to chase new dreams, and our parents still spend every day working the land. This fire has not only destroyed part of our much loved home, it has destroyed the things our parents need to run their farm. This is the only way they know how to live and they have poured years, sweat, and tears into making their land profitable.

Now we need to give back. Tragedy has come to our home but we will not let it stay to break our parents. Please, give just a little, and for two kind, giving people, it will mean a lot.
