Our beautiful mum is facing advanced cancer. We're raising funds to help her spend precious time with her whanau & mokos while she still can
Levin, Manawatu-Wanganui
Our beautiful mum, a deeply loved wife, aunty, nanny, sister, daughter, and friend, was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma cancer in her spine. Karina is the heart of our whānau. A loving mum to 3 children and a proud nanny to 5 beautiful mokopuna, she is the person who has always shown up with warmth, strength, & making sure everyone around her feels supported and never alone.
Recently, Mum has shown incredible courage. She has undergone major spinal surgery & radiation & continues to face a long journey ahead. She has not yet been able to return to work or walk yet & sadly the cancer has spread. Our focus now is on slowing that progression, easing her symptoms & giving Mum as much comfort & extended time as possible.
When we asked Mum what she wants most, her answer made time feel even more precious. All she has ever wanted is to watch her mokos grow up & to spend time together, creating memories. More than anything, she hopes she can still be here to share in their milestones.
One of the hardest challenges is distance. Mum lives in New Zealand, while her children & mokos live in Australia. Being together, which matters now more than ever, comes with significant travel & living costs on top of medical & day-to-day expenses. That is why we are raising funds to ease the financial pressure on Karina, Alan and Family.
Please feel free to leave a message for Mum we will read them to her.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with Karina Tatana - Hohaia & our whānau.
Donations will help cover private medical appointments, specialist care, unfunded/partially-funded medications, day to day expenses or clinical trials, travel for treatment, living costs while Mum is unable to work, and NZ–Australia travel so she can be with her children & mokos.
