Help send twenty Auckland Boys' Choir singers to Christchurch for their first major tour — five days of choral exchange and performance.
Auckland
Twenty boys from the Auckland Boys' Choir are heading to Christchurch this August for their first major tour — five days of choral exchange, performance, and shared experience with New Zealand's boys' choral community. We need your help to get them there.
The Auckland Boys' Choir is the city's premier boys' choir, providing exceptional singing instruction in Auckland for 56 years. Built on four values: excellence, discipline, respect, and enjoyment.
ABC has spent recent years climbing out of a period of low membership — recently profiled by RNZ — and this tour is an important step forward. Travelling, rehearsing in unfamiliar spaces, and performing for new audiences shapes young musicians in ways weekly rehearsals simply can't.
While in Christchurch, the boys will sing alongside the Christchurch Cathedral choristers and the Christchurch Boys' Choir — two of the country's strongest boys' choral institutions.
From 26–30 August, they'll perform alongside Christchurch's choral community, lead a Sunday parish service, and enjoy downtime including Orana Wildlife Park, the Gondola, Diamond Harbour, and New Brighton hot pools.
Our goal is $4,000 — enough to cover costs for ten of the twenty boys. Every dollar above helps make sure no boy misses out. Community donations keep the per-boy cost as low as possible and ensure every boy can go, regardless of family circumstance.
All funds raised go directly toward tour costs — getting twenty boys to Christchurch and back, and giving them the full experience while they're there.
