Aroha fund: A pool of money for Lucy and Sam to spend on things that can bring a little joy or comfort during this time.
Otago
Cancer sucks. It's not fair, and it sadly touches far too many.
These days, it is commonplace to see Givealittle pages in your feed with heartbreaking stories of people who have been dealt a bad hand. You feel empathy as you emoji react with a "care" or "blue heart", you re-share to your stories....until one day, someone you know becomes that person.
Lucy is what some people refer to as sunshine in human form: a wonderful, bright, intelligent and caring human.
Sadly, like so many, she has been diagnosed with stage 4 triple-negative breast cancer. This came just five weeks after becoming a mother to her beautiful daughter, Hazel.
With Sam by her side, Lucy is using all her might to keep this cancer at bay and spend as much time as possible with her precious loved ones.
If you are in a position to donate, no matter how big or small, please consider adding to this fund.
Lucy and I were workmates at OUSA and also flatmates in Dunedin.
Donations will help provide Lucy with whatever she needs, wants, or simply enjoys. Funds may contribute towards living costs, and special experiences or activities that bring joy, comfort, allowing her to focus on living life to the fullest.
