Sex Workers of Aotearoa - A day in the life of - Art Exhibition

Flux Gallery - Wellington Museum

4th - 25th July 2019

The Sex Workers of Aotearoa exhibition aims to showcase works from sex workers all over NZ, from different areas of the industry and all genders included. The theme is "A day in the life of" and gives the artist the freedom to express their life as a sex worker the way they want to. The press regularly paints an image of how a sex worker should be, often in a stereotyped manner or only representing a single portion of the population.

Sex workers are a diverse group, and our regular days vary greatly. Society tends to focus on the 'sex' aspect of sex work, they don't see the piles of laundry, the behind the scenes of the business, the marketing and 'paperwork', or the fact we are just average people like everyone else.

The funds:

This exhibition is not for profit, I Jordan, make no money from this exhibition. Funds raised will go towards gallery hire, marketing, printing of flyers, printing of a commemorative booklet and postage of artworks, and all remaining funds raising will go to the NZPC (New Zealand Prostitutes Collective).

So far from round 1 of donations, we raised $2275, which has helped cover promotional, printing and exhibition costs. You also made contributions to assisting those who needed their entry fees and postal costs covered. THANK YOU!

All further funds raised will go directly to the NZPC to help support the collective that supports us!
