Shane's Cancer Battle

  • Update from Shane's Facebook

      2 July 2023

I had an assessment with the oncologist on Thursday. Everything is stable so I am going off chemo for as long as possible, I have a check up in 6 weeks to see how I'm doing and then a scan in 3months.

If there is changes after 6 months or longer in the tumor or lymph nodes they will put me on chemo for another round but if there is changes before the 6 months then chemo is less likely to work. I will give it my all to get through this!

  • Update!

      26 May 2023

Its been a minute. As most know Shane is still doing very well!! His fortnightly assessments have changed to Monthly, he just had one last week and the doctors are still happy with where everything is sitting. Shane is still dealing with chemo like a champ, no vomiting, no headaches and no other major symptoms which is awesome. He still has 2 more rounds before his next ct and update and then if the doctors are happy he will be able to have a break for a month or so and live a mostly normal life until his next round.

So proud of this man and how well he is doing!, keep smashing it Shane. Many people are so proud!

  • Delayed update, from a Facebook post!

      11 April 2023

Massive day today but in a good way. On Monday I had an updated CT scan to see what's happening since having chemo over the last 3 months. Well the result came back and in the doctor's words there has been a dramatic improvement in the lymph nodes that are around my abdomen. They gave 2 examples of how much my lymph nodes have shrunk one was 14mm in size that's now 8mm and another one was 65mm in size thats now 39mm. At this stage they couldn't give us measurements on the tumor on my oesophagus as they are only doing the overall. As I am feeling good within myself and doing well with the chemo I am starting on my next 3month round Tuesday next week.

I can't express how much I appreciate all the love and support from everyone over these last months, I thank you all so much!! 😊

  • Coming into treatment 5

      12 March 2023

Last week Thursday Shane had his fortnightly check up before his next chemo session this week coming. When Shane was diagnosed with cancer his white blood cell levels were sitting at 162 which normally (correct me if im wrong) they are meant to be around 11, well now they are sitting at 35 so chemo on the levels side of things is working and we will find out after the 3rd of April if this also means the tumor is under control. So keep your fingers, toes and everything else crossed that all goes well.

  • Progress

      25 February 2023

Hi guys, its been a minute

On Thursday Shane had another assessment and well we have good news, he is no longer on any pain killers and his white blood cell count is still dropping, he is almost eating us out of house and home which means his eating is back to normal.

All we can do is keep hoping and praying for this good news to keep coming!!

  • Update on Shane's chemo

      15 February 2023

Shane's on his 3rd treatment of chemo out of 6. On his chemo weeks he gets knocked around quite bad but on his off weeks he's doing well. He had an updated blood test last week and his white blood cells have come down and his other bloods are still normal so the chemo seems to be working. Hopefully from now on it is onwards and upwards!

I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated, every cent is appreciated!!
