Sharon's Breast Cancer Journey

  • Hello and hope you are all well :-)

      7 June 2022

Another 3 weeks has passed since my last update and we are heading for Winter, so far I have managed to dodge the flu and that other horrid disease out there that also starts with a ‘C’

Due to being unable to have the flu jab (my Dr has told me this would compromise my chemo) I have tried to keep myself as safe as possible.

I have managed to keep myself out of hospital. It’s been at least 3 weeks since the last blood transfusion.

When possible I try to keep up some level of fitness by walking my 2 Foxies (or as I like to call them “My Office Assistants”). My energy levels can be up and down and I tire a more easily than I used to - this will come back in time I am sure.

When I have Chemo, or I have time to relax I am busy knitting beanies for Auckland Oncology.

Once again I would love to thank you all for the ongoing support and kindness you show me. I work from home so I hear about all the hard work and fundraising that is happening through Email. I am totally blown away and feel so humbled.

    Regards Sharon

I just want to thank everyone for your wonderful support thru the Give a Little Page.

My diagnosis of course came as a great shock. We began Chemotherapy at the earliest opportunity, having being told I could not wait to go into the public system. I have been having Chemo for 12 weeks now with another 8 treatments to go (Radiation and surgery to follow)

My attitude is positive and as a family we can’t stand still so are going forward. Together we can beat this.

Having the opportunity to work from home has been a godsend. I still have the opportunity to communicate and contribute within the “Blue Team” –always good to have a chat and keep connected, and cannot wait till I am back in the office.

    Thanks again

    Sharon
