Our Sheree has lost her sparkle. She desperately needs Spine Surgery

  • THE ROAD TO RECOVERY

      1 May 2023

It has now been 5 months since Sheree had her disc replacement surgery. As expected it has been a slow but generally steady road to recovery with quite a way to go yet until she can get back to being able to return to work and hopefully have a fully active life. Unfortunately she has had a couple of serious setbacks with DVT and a pulmonary embolism but she has battled on. To quantify her progress at this point, she says she is feeling about 30% better than she did before the surgery. Her dedication to recommended physical therapies including hydrotherapy are helping her to regain her strength and fitness. She still has times where she experiences severe pain and has to remain careful not to attempt to do too much. We will remain forever grateful to you all for your generosity. It has made a huge difference to us in helping towards the cost of Sheree’s surgery and the ongoing costs of her rehabilitation therapy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • THANKS for HELPING to MAKE it HAPPEN

      4 December 2022

Everything has happened so fast. With your generosity and our family managing to raise the necessary funds, Sheree and I arrived in Germany last Sunday. Her surgery happened on Tuesday and she is now a bionic woman with 2 artificial discs in her back. After such a major operation her recovery and rehabilitation will take time. It is now Day 4 after surgery and despite some rough times of severe pain her determination and fortitude have seen her reach milestones; sitting up and standing unassisted on Day 1, gentle physio exercises and walking a short distance on Day 2 and walking a longer distance on Day 3. Her highlight on Day 3 though was finally being allowed to eat a solid meal which she did with great gusto! Today, Day 4, her big accomplishment was walking up and down a few stairs. There are only 2 more sleeps to go here at the hospital in Recklinghausen and then we head off to the Medicos Rehabilitation Centre in Gelsenkirchen for the next step in her recovery programme.

  • Thank You for your Amazing Ongoing Support

      10 November 2022

We can not thank you all enough and we want to acknowledge each and every one of you who have donated, shared Sheree’s page or have spread the word. We have been absolutely blown away and humbled by the extraordinary support and kindness being sent her way. As a family we are also doing everything we can by trying to access KiwiSaver, savings, retirement funds and loans with the hope of getting Sheree to Germany for her life changing surgery which is now possible within only a matter of weeks! She has been offered a date for surgery in December that initially we felt we couldn’t be ready for but with her ever worsening symptoms we have decided to just ‘go for it’. Every dollar raised will help ease the financial burden before and after her surgery so please continue to share this page and help if you can. We really are so deeply grateful. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
