Donate today to help adult and child victims of domestic abuse to get safe.
Nationwide
The Covid-19 lockdown is helping save lives during this global pandemic. However, for too many New Zealanders, home is where the danger lies.
Those having to stay home with an abusive partner are feeling nervous, anxious and more isolated than ever right now. And with good reason, we’re already seeing increases in family violence incidents and sadly, we’re expecting more.
In lockdown, it is even more likely that someone escaping domestic violence will end up leaving with nothing but the clothes on their back. We have had to put victims in motels because we cannot place them in the bubble of families already staying in our refuges.
As an essential service, Shine, and other domestic violence and sexual violence crisis services, continue to operate during the COVID-19 lockdown at Alert Level 4. We are however expecting unprecedented demand for our services in the coming weeks and we need your help to ensure everyone gets the help they need, when they need it.
At a time of uncertainty for a great many people, we are asking that if you are in a position to be able to give, please consider giving whatever you can afford at this time.
Shine is NZ's largest specialist domestic abuse charity.
We provide a range of services working with the both the victims and the perpetrators of domestic abuse.
