In April 2023, Jaspal Singh arrived in New Zealand with his two children, a 13-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son, ready to build a brighter future. A dedicated worker in the kiwifruit industry, Jaspal poured his heart into providing for his family, who joined him later that year.

On October 30, 2024, a rainy day cast a shadow over their lives. After dropping off his children at the bus station, Jaspal returned home, appearing calm and well. Around 11 am that morning, Jaspal's wife went to check the mailbox, upon return she found him unconscious on their bed. Despite urgent medical attention, Jaspal was tragically pronounced dead just an hour later. The cause remains unknown, leaving his family in shock and uncertainty.
