$300 of $120,000 goal
Given by 6 generous donors in one year

We want to be able to accelerate the fundraising drive!

West Coast

The single engine fairlie locomotive R28 located in Reefton is a rare steam locomotive. We want to restore it to KiwiRail network operating condition! We are purchasing a R boiler from Steam Scene Christchurch that has been formally surveyed and can be the operating boiler for R28. We have raised $9,000 and we have approx $14,000 to go to complete the purchase. $120,000 for the restoration project is required to go back to lottery’s seeking the remaining 2/3rds funding to achieve the total restoration! The boiler purchase can count as part of the 1/3rd funding of $120,000 that we need for the Lottery application!

Use of funds

The purchase of a replacement boiler and on the restoration of the body of the engine! Any surplus would become project contingency funding.
