Siva Afi Aotearoa is about creating a pathway for our community to create their own successes! Our ambition is one, for Siva Afi to be accessible to all youth, as a way to build-up the skill and confidence, just as activities such as Hip Hop, Kapa Haka and team sports are. Secondly, to promote intergenerational program and engagement, providing a platform for young and older to share knowledge and learn from each other.
Annually Siva Afi Aotearoa produce the Siva Afi Festival, a fixture for Pacific and Maori youth, just like ASB Secondary School Polyfest and Pasifika Festival, to showcase the art form of Siva Afi or fire dance from the Pacific. It’s a platform for youth to showcase their skills and acknowledge of Siva Afi Ailao.
We also run a regular programme of workshops in the community to teach the basic skills of Siva Afi and Drumming and to build the confidence of those participating.
With funding to Arts projects and events being cut everywhere, we are seeking all avenues to help support the programs we offer to the community and continue to be accessible to all.
Siva Afi Aotearoa prides itself in being inclusive and welcoming to all regardless of your beliefs, cultural and ethnic background, political, health views and life style.
Siva Afi Aotearoa comes under the management of Polynesian Entertainers Limited who has been operating in NZ since 2011 under the direction of Amo Ieriko.
