Supporting the future of Siva Afi workshops and the annual Siva Afi Festival in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Auckland
The Siva Afi Workshop Programme and Festival is a pathway for people to create their own successes, resilience and knowledge through the Samoan art form of Siva Afi (fire knife dancing).
Our workshops welcome everyone in our community over the age of 5 to come and learn Siva Afi and Siva Afi Drumming. From this we particularly see young people gain knowledge of traditional artforms and build their self-confidence. The Siva Afi workshop programme is offered each term in three locations across Tamaki Makarau; Onehunga, Māngere, New Lynn, each series costing $5,000 (or $15,000 a term).
Our annual festival also welcomes our community to come together to celebrate our dance and culture with performances, markets and competitions for both school aged performers and Wahine Toa. The Festival is only made possible through donations and grants.
We are reaching out to you all, to help us to cover fees for our tutors and equipment to be used by each participant and the ongoing cost of the festival programme.
Whether you're donating a simple and effective $5, $20 or $200 – you’ll join us in providing a pathway for young people to create their own successes, resilience and knowledge.
LET'S LIGHT IT UP!!!
Lightbox Projects is a proud support of Siva Afi in Aoteroa and works as part of the team to produce the workshops and festival every year.
Money will be spent on covering ongoing costs of tutors, equipment and administration costs to keep these events going.
