Slope - A Honors project on video game movement.

What is the purpose of this project?

Hello. For those of you who don't know me I am a student at Massey University doing the Honors year of a Bachelor of Screen Art Majoring in Game Development. For my research I am looking into movement systems and how they are made. I am spending the second half of this year developing my own movement system.

What is the project?

The project is a movement system based around sliding down sand dunes in a desert. My system is stylistically very influenced by the game Journey and draws on a lot of ideas from skateboarding games. The purpose of the system is to slide around the sand and do tricks to get faster and have enough speed to get up steep sand dunes.

End result:

The end goal of this project is to have a demo project for my classes and to be able to show off on my portfolio for getting work. This is not a commercial product and will not be released to consume as a full game. I will send the end product videos of the project to those who donate money and I will provide a link to the game on itch.io for anyone who wants to play for free.
