Help small businesses with the legal expenses needed to fight landlords who threaten to take our businesses, our homes and our livelihoods.
Auckland
Small businesses across Aotearoa are suffering with Covid-19 lockdown. Can you help us? We are a group of tenants in Elliott Stables and St Kevin’s arcade in Auckland city.
Not only have we lost our customers which means we have no revenue, but our landlord is demanding payment and threatening to take away our businesses, homes and livelihoods.
We have a lawyer who is willing to take on the big guys and fight our battle with us. We need assistance to fund the legal fees and costs. This has been estimated at $30,000, but any amount of money will help.
This will not just benefit us fighting our landlord, but all landlords behaving this way. It may lead to case law that changes the balance of power in this country.
I am one of a group of small businesses suffered extreme hardship as a result of the impacts of Covid.
The money will pay for the group of businesses facing legal expenses which are estimated at $30,000. If we don’t reach this target, the group has legal costs already incurred, so this money will be shared evenly among them to cover those.
Legal action taken! 13 October 2020
Thanks everyone who has already donated, we are feeling really heartened by the support out there. Unfortunately our landlord has now threatened to lock some of the businesses out of their premises, removing any chance of making money to pay the rent. We really need your support to continue this really unjust fight. Please consider forwarding this to your networks - every little bit helps!
