Everyone knows that person in there life who stood by you, supported you, helped you up when you are at your lowest, gave you that helping hand you didn't know you needed. Was on the other end of the phone when you were at your lowest. Would give you the shirt off their backs in a storm to keep you warm.

That is my Dad. He is a naval man, been in a uniform for well over 25yrs, a restaurant manager, a back packer owner, a book shop manager, a taxi driver, a fisherman with more big catches than I can remember, moved round the world to provide us with a better life, been a loving husband to our Mom for 45yrs and counting, a Dad to 3 kids and a Grandfather to 3 fantastic Grandkids.

At this time in life, it would be time to slow down and enjoy.

I'm afraid Dad is in for the fight of his life after being diagnosed with cancer.

After every thing that has happened over the last few years, Dad has been by our sides, helping in any way he could, whether it was manning the BBQ at functions, helping people carry things to their cars or buses. Even going as far as to give someone his jumper in the cold. Dad has always been there, with a big bushy beard and a big heart.

Now he needs a helping hand, he is not one to ask for it, so I am for him.

With everything that has been happening, both Mom and Dad have had to stop working. Dad hasn't been able to work for some time now and Mom has to stop work to help Dad out.

To the person that has helped so much over so many years and never asked for anything in return. Stood by our family with pride and stood tall in our hour of need. This is for my Dad, my Father, my role model, my hero.

Use of funds

Help with on going bills, rent, groceries and fuel to get to the appointments. Help take some of the stress away as both mum and dad have had to stop work. They have used up all their leave, sick days and have no income for the last few months.
