Supporting Neurodiverse Autistic & ADHD Athlete attending the NZ Gymnastics Nationals
Avondale, Christchurch
Sophie is our amazing Trampolinist, and she is also Neurodiverse ADHD & Autistic athlete. Sophie faces multiple barriers that are invisible to most, yet she continues to thrive after several years in this sport and has qualified to travel to the NZ Gymnastics Nationals 2023.
We are wanting to help Sophie get closer to her goals and support some of the sensory, communication, black and white thinking, pragmatic language and barriers of her travelling as she is unable to travel and stay with the team due to her high support needs. She needs her support network around her being whanau, friends and a low sensory environment away from the normal competitive environment during downtime.
Coregulation means having a quiet space with her carers near the event will allow her to co-regulate and have enough mental energy to attend the NZ Gymnastics Nationals this year. This means Sophie has additional costs associated with meeting those needs apart from simply attending.
All funds raised will go directly towards accommodation, equipment, coaching, venue & entry fees, transport and any additional supports required to make this event happen for her.
Sophie is our AMAZING daughter
