Seeds to Feeds funding drive to support the mahi of the next 6 months.

Wellington

Seeds to Feeds is a program of local food events, brought to life by diverse communities of volunteers and facilitated by our central coordination team.

Seeds to Feeds events follow the rhythm of the spring/summer growing season. Beginning with multiple seed and seedling swaps, followed by learning-based workshops and working bees that are created from the wants of the community and generally reflect relevant tasks of the vegetable garden. The options for what can be done within this time are endless, with garden working bees, preserving classes and economic cooking lessons being popular activities.

We culminate with a month-long Harvest Celebration Festival in March. These larger events are designed by the people who have contributed to the previous events, supported by the coordination team and created as a meal to feed as many people in the wider community as possible. Ideally, this community meal uses anything that has been grown, foraged, processed or made in their local area. It is a celebration of what we have learned, created and shared together.

Seeds to Feeds wants to normalise all food cultures and practices into our daily lives so that our diverse community members feel both safe and valued by sharing them with their peers. We want everyone involved to feel emotionally supported and uplifted by the people they are living amongst.
