Help us support Junior, his wife Kerri, and their three children.

Queenstown, Otago

Most of you will know Junior. From the sidelines at Wakatipu Rugby Club, from building sites around town, or simply as the person who lights up every room. He gives more than he takes, and now it is our turn to give back.

This week Junior and his family received news no family is ready for. He has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Junior and his wife Kerri have three beautiful children aged 8, 14, and 16, and right now the most important thing is for them to be together.

We want Kerri to be by Junior's side through every appointment and every hard moment, without worrying about the bills. Medical costs, time off work, and everyday family expenses do not pause when life gets hard.

We are still awaiting the oncologist appointment and will share more when the family is ready. We wanted to get a head start, because that is what community does.

We are also holding a fundraising auction evening on Friday 5 June in Queenstown. Venue to be confirmed, watch this page for updates.

Ask anyone in Queenstown about Junior and they will not just know his name, they will light up when they say it. We just want to make sure he feels every bit of that love right now.

With love and aroha

Update   2 June 2026

A quick update on Junior.

On Thursday, Junior begins his second round of chemotherapy.

The reality is that this treatment isn't a cure. The goal is to slow the cancer down and give him as much quality time as possible. It has been a tough few weeks, and there have been days where he has been quite unwell. But thankfully, we've also had some good days recently, and we're holding on tightly to those moments.

We wanted to thank everyone who has supported Junior and our family so far. Whether through donations, messages, prayers, or simply following his journey, your kindness has helped more than words can express.

As we head into the next stage of treatment, we'd appreciate you keeping Junior in your thoughts. We'll continue to share updates along the way.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us ❤️

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause. Junior and Kerry, my thoughts are with you and your precious family. Junior is one of the most wonderful people I met in Queenstown and I still remember you to getting together. It is lovely to see the family you have now and saddens me that someone so amazing with such a lovely family has to go through this at such a young age.
