Helping Pete set up his life again

Kaitaia, Northland

Hi beautiful whanau,

As you may have heard on Friday night (Friday 14th Jan) my sweet Grandad was in a house fire, he suffered serious burns from the fire which had destroyed his home along with his vehicles, speedway bikes and all of his belongings.

Gratefully, he managed to get out before the house was engulfed. He was flown in a serious condition to Whangārei Hospital by the Northland Rescue Helicopter to stabilise him then to Middlemore in Auckland which has a specialist burns unit.

After having surgery he is currently recovering, he has skin grafts over the next few weeks and will be in the burns unit for some weeks to come.

Already, we have received an outstanding amount of awhi, support and prayers. We have received so much kindness of people wanting to bless him financially, I thought creating this page would be the best way possible. You will be able to bless him directly and help him set his life up again,

He is the most generous, loving, kind hearted and humbled man. He has been more worried about his Cat Bobby more than anything, Pete shared tears after finding out he was okay and has been offered to be cared for by Heather at the local cattery.

He has been overwhelmed sharing tears daily by the amount of love and support he has received from the community.

On behalf of our family we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your help, We are truly blown away with the amount of love and support we have received from our beautiful community. Blessings to you all x

Use of funds

The money donated will directly go to Pete and will be used to purchased essential living items and what ever he needs as he has lost absolutely everything

Passing of Pete x   31 January 2022

It is with a very heavy heart that we share the sad news that Pete has passed away. The chest infection he was battling took hold and he was unable to over come it.

He passed away with his daughter Michelle and Son, Andy holding his hand and by his side early hours at 6am (Sunday 30th Jan) The medical team made him comfortable and he was pain free, dosing off in his sleep.

Our hearts are absolutely shattered. On behalf of his family we are so grateful for the amount of love & support he has received from his beautiful friends, family & community. He was absolutely delighted receiving the messages that had come his way.

We can not thank you all enough for your kind donations, every cent will now go towards his funeral & any other costs related.

Pete will be located in Auckland for a few days so those family & friends will have the opportunity to visit, then he will be brought up to Kaitaia, where his friends & family will be able to visit. There will be a small family gathering for his funeral and burial - as requested by him 🤍

On behalf of Pete’s family, Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness during this time, it is greatly appreciated 🤍
