The Duchenne Dash is a gruelling 24 hour, 300km, bike ride from London to Paris raising funds for Duchenne UK!
Canterbury
Gidday Everyone!
This June, myself and my dashing colleagues Rupert Hodges and Ben Tomkins will represent Oritain in the Duchenne Dash. What does that mean, exactly?
Quite simply, this means that us three relatively novice cyclists will mount our bicycles and ride all the way from London to Paris within 24 hours. With minimal experience and maximal determination, we will cycle almost 300 kilometres through bruises and battering winds to raise money for Duchenne UK and the young boys suffering from the incurable form of Muscular Dystrophy.
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a rare and aggressive strain of muscular dystrophy which effects young boys. Onset can be as early as age 4, and boys with DMD can often no longer walk by age 12. The condition is rapid and devastating: beginning with those in the legs, hips, shoulders and pelvis, the condition attacks voluntary muscles throughout the body.
By donating to Team Oritain, you are joining Rupert, Ben and myself and 200 other riders in the fight against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne UK needs your support now for funding treatments, accelerating research into a cure and providing advice and support for sufferers of DMD and their loved ones.
Please dig deep for this wonderful campaign to bring strength to those affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy!
We do have a Team Oritain Fundraising Page running here in the UK so if you would prefer to donate to that page directly you can find our page here: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserPage.action?userUrl=OritainUK&pageUrl=2
I will be taking part in the Duchenne Dash 2017 held on June 9th and 10th.
For more info check out the Duchenne Dash page!
Funds will be held in an independent NZ bank account in my name and will then be transferred to Duchenne UK so all my Friends and Family back home don't loose out on the exchange rate =)
