This our last chance to save the historic views from Stockade Hill being lost forever. We need your help.

Auckland

Over the last 3 years, a battle has been raging between Howick’s community and Auckland Council to defend the wonderful 360-degree views from and around Stockade Hill, against insensitive development permitted by the Auckland Unitary Plan.

Our actions to save the views included a 6700-signature petition and a High Court Appeal by the Howick Ratepayers and Residents Association which was lost on a technicality. So far, judgements have allowed potential development to continue.

This will change the whole ‘feel’ of Howick and spoil it for generations to come.

On behalf of the whole community, a small group have filed a final appeal with the Environment Court and have engaged a very experienced RMA (Resource Management Act) barrister, whose expert opinion is that there are many grounds for appeal.

We have a good chance of saving Stockade Hill Views. But it’s also our last chance.

If you believe in our cause, please donate whatever you can.

Use of funds

To fight Auckland Council and Housing Corporation and win, we need the services of some top professionals. This includes a barrister, together with town planners, landscape architects, and historic and heritage experts to provide evidence.
