As the NZ Minerals Forum promotes the expansion of coal, we will challenge this and fight for our future.
Otago
The NZ Minerals Forum (ie Coal Conference) is coming to Ōtepoti/Dunedin on 28 and 29 May to promote the expansion of coal in Aotearoa/NZ. They want more coal, more profit. We want a future. We are in a climate emergency. Coal does not belong in our future. People around the world are saying “Enough” to coal and other polluting industries, and so are we. We, Stop the Minerals Forum, are a coalition of environmental groups and concerned individuals who are working together to organise a strong *and* non-violent opposition to the 2019 NZ Minerals forum.
This page aims to raise the funds needed to make this opposition as strong and effective as possible. Funds will be used for promotional materials such as printing flyers and posters, media, first aid kits and other safety equipment, creative elements such as art supplies and placards, potential equipment required such as megaphones, transport and accommodation help for out of towners and covering legal costs should any arise.
Any remaining funds will go towards opposing OMV’s proposed drilling off the coast of Otago in the Great South Basin.
Many activists are putting in long hours to make this opposition possible and are often reaching into their own pockets as well, so any help you can give, and however small it may be, is hugely appreciated and is a part of what makes this work possible. Never underestimate the impact you can have, and we thank you in advance.
We are all part of this environmental group coalition in Otepoti Dunedin
