Auckland

The dairy behind our house was robbed at gun point over the weekend. The thieves entered the dairy on Saturday morning and pointed a gun at the owners wife who was working behind the counter. Her husband quickly came to her aid but he has pushed to the ground and then had the gun pointed at him.

The 2 thieves stole over $2000 worth of cigarettes. They did this by quickly sweeping the entire contents of the cigarette cabinet onto a blanket before running out of the shop and jumping into their car parked outside our house.

This is the third major theft of cigarettes the owner has encountered. He is a lovely man who is too proud to ask for help but he told me the robberies have resulted in $5000-$10000 worth of cigarettes being stolen from him. He is not insured for this and is unlikely to receive any of the goods back.

I see how hard he and his wife work to make a living and I know that they do this in fear of being attacked again. I live in what I thought was a safe neighbourhood so it breaks my heart to know two houses away from me there is a hard working family who have been held at gun point and had over $5000 stolen from them. It just doesn't seem fair.

Use of funds

All funds raised will go directly to the dairy owner to help compensate him and his family for the goods stolen
