Free vet care, physiotherapy, pet essentials and grooming for the pets of the homeless in Wellington City

Wellington

Previously started by Animal Physio NZ in Christchurch, Animal Orthopaedics Wellington are now jumping on the bandwagon and introducing 'Street Tails' Pets of the Homeless Project in Wellington. Many of the homeless people in Wellington own pets and they play a big part in their lives. The pets are family and offer unconditional love, friendship, support and security. But owning a pet is costly and that is why we are reaching out to help!

The free services we will provide includes a pop-up veterinary care clinic, physiotherapy treatments, grooming treatments, distribution of food, treats, toys, jackets and bedding and more.

The pets will get full nose-to-tail health checks, annual vaccinations, physiotherapy, flea treatment and worming treatment. Pets that need further medical care will be referred to partnering vet clinics. The pet's will be pampered with massage, grooming, nail clips and of course lots of cuddles and love and will receive many gifts such as warm jackets, blankets, beds, food, treats, toys, and a vet book. The owners will receive support, hot drinks and baked goods.

Thank you so much for your support!

ON THE DAY  26 November 2024

Our incredible ‘Street Tails’ event Wellington yesterday was AMAZING!

Thanks to DCM Wgtn for providing their venue, their whanau's pets are well loved, but sometimes the cost of vet care can be a barrier.

We were able to provide services yesterday, such as vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, general health checks, and home visits as well as organising desexing and lump removals - all free of charge, with the wonderful assistance of our HUHA family.

We could not have done this without YOU and your kind generosity. Everybody was so incredibly grateful. We gifted goodie bag's that contained leads, harnesses, beds, treats, and food for their fur babies. We only hope that next year will be bigger and better. Our hearts are full. Here is a wee snap shot of the day.
