Heartbreaking sudden death of 10week baby Āio ✨

On Tuesday 16th of Jan 2024, Danica awoke to her darling baby girl Āio, unconscious with a burning fever

They were rushed from their home in Northland to the local hospital & then flown to Starship hospital, AKL

She stopped breathing as the helicopter landed but with help from the incredible team at Starship, she came back to us. She was unable to breathe on her own so she went straight onto life support

They thought she may of had sepsis but were unsure & awaiting tests results to tell us more specifically what infection she had so it could be treated accordingly.

Āio was on the maximum of every possible medication she could have, plus top ups but she still continued to show a decline.

The tests come back saying there was no sign of infection in her bloods meaning, we were at a loss as to what exactly was causing her all this mamae.

On 20th Jan, in Danica's warm, loving embrace, our strong, brave little Āio took her last breath, transitioning into te ao wairua

Despite just leaving a DV relationship a day before Āio was rushed into the hospital, we as a whānau have wrapped around Danica & her babies to bring nothing but positive, healing, vibrant energy with love and light to awhi Danica to stay strong.

As Danica heartbreakingly tries to navigate her way through this process & organise the next steps for Āio, we as her whānau would like to help financially & take abit of the load off by creating this give a little page for others who'd like to do the same
