Join us in officially reopening the ramp and thanking our ramp repair team.
The Sumner Skate ramp has had a major restoration and refurbishment! The ramp needed a new surface, new ply on the sub surface, tightening up of all the bracing and replacement of some damaged railings. Our specialist team of ramp builders Damian Doyle, Trevor Hone and Phil Elmey put in the skilled work to have the surface and structure good as new and we are excited to see the installation of the Gator Skins surface (the first in the south island!). We had a great turn out of volunteers who turned up to paint, tidy and landscape ready for the ramp to reopen last Saturday. Over 200 hours of work over 14 days - a great result. Finally we would like to thank all those who donated to the Give a little page, Sumner businesses Village Inn and Red Snapper who donated food to our workers, Fire & Slice Pizza for the generous donation and a huge thanks to the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board who were a major funder.

We’re keen to keep the fundraising going so to cover the cost of all timber framing and plywood. Any left over funds will be used for a wee reopening event and to have in the pot for future maintenance. Please note all funds are kept safely in the Sumner Community Residents’ Association’s community account.
