  • Update for 14/04/2014

    Devastating news today. Super Daniels transplant is not able to go ahead as the cancer cells have returned and not in small numbers. Unfortunately, there are no treatment options left for Caroline and Darren's Super Hero. The family are staying close and thank everyone for their support, message and prayers over the past months. This next path will be the toughest one yet and no doubt Caroline, Darren and Super Daniel will face it with strength, courage and most importantly, together.

  • Update for 24/02/2014

    Things have generally been going positively for our Super Daniel. Caroline, Darren and Daniel got a bit of a surprise today following Daniels bone marrow test. They got to spend some time away from the hospital which has happened a few times of late but this time they don't have to return until Wednesday. Daniels operation went well and there were no problems. The family have been staying at Ronald McDonald House. The most recent bone marrow test results are due on Wednesday along with the start of more chemo. Fingers crossed everyone for the test results.

  • Update for 24/01/2014

    Its been a pretty big week for Super Daniel. He had a double Hickman line put in earlier in the week and tomorrow (25 January) the really strong chemo drugs start. Also tomorrow, Caroline & Darren will receive an update on the progress of Super Daniels bone marrow.   • Update for 09/01/2014

    Super Daniel looks great in his super cape, totally awesome. The great news is the leukaemia is pretty much gone from Super Daniels blood. And now because he doesn't have to have fluids all the time Super Daniel is more mobile and gets to practice his walking. However, the cancer is still in Super Daniels bone marrow and isn't going away fast enough. Depending on the results of the bone marrow removed at the next test, a new plan will have to be made and this may mean moving to Auckland. Keep up the power of prayers and positive energy so that it works some further magic for our young Super Daniel.

  • Update for 28/12/2013

    Daniels white blood cells are now under half of what they were, great news. Another blood transfusion is planned shortly. Daniel has been doing some crawling and showing an interest again in his books. It looks like Daniels first chemo treatment is likely just before New Years. So it remains tough for Daniel and his Mum and Dad but the steps he is taking are in the right direction.

  • Diagnosis for Super Daniel

    Its the end of day one for our Super Daniel and his Mum (Caroline) and Dad (Darren). Super Daniel has acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. This is the most common type of leukaemia but unfortunately Super Daniel is presenting with the infant form which has a lower success rate than the child form. Treatment started last evening. This means that this Super Family are now based in Christchurch for several months as opposed to the original month we hoped. Caroline & Darren thank everyone for their support and can not express how much it means to them.

  • Super Daniels First Night

      23 December 2013

    Daniel, Caroline & Darren flew from Lower Hutt to Christchurch Childrens Cancer ward yesterday. Overnight Daniel under went his first blood transfusion and today a lumber puncture and surgery. The type of leukaemia is not yet known. At this stage the best case scenario is that Daniel and his Mum & Dad will be in Christchurch for the next month.
