Support for African American visual artist, photographer & graphic designer Daisy Remington based in Aotearoa.
Auckland
Akoma Ntoaso (Linked Hearts) African Creators Initiative aims to uplift the wisdom of the African & Afro descent creator while building authentic connections having the past, present and future in mind. Bi-monthly on our platform we have chosen to uplift a creator and their practice whom are based in the continent or diaspora.
Raised in the well irrigated coastal desert of California, Daisy Remington an African American spent much of her time in her imagination. As she grew, practicality crept in and Daisy made her way into the world of ‘stable careers’. She explored many options and amassed a wide range of experience, including published writer, book-keeper, human resource manager, planning and logistics, project manager, and marketer. Yet, the call to create never left. Four years ago, she took up her previous passions of visual art through various mediums. Utilising both digital and traditional forms of art, allows Daisy to fully explore concepts, feelings and ideas from multiple perspectives.
Currently, Daisy has focused on photography, graphic design, and creative/art direction. In Photography she looks to capture the things she is surrounded by on her small farm. These nature focused images capture things that ask her to pause and witness. In graphic design she has enjoyed making work from posters to social media collateral. She has also been playing with sketches, acrylic and watercolor painting, and has gotten back into writing having finished a nonfiction novel.
