A call to arms for BOP... assist our local wheelchair rugby players
Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty
The eight members of the Bay of Plenty Steamrollers wheelchair rugby team are passionate about the sport which fosters camaraderie, physical fitness and leadership, not to mention the social benefits.
The Steamrollers practice twice a week and represent the Bay of Plenty in national competitions hosted around the country. However, since Covid many of the funding streams that we use to help us to attend tournaments have dried up. Five of our players require support workers to assist us in our everyday lives, increasing the costs of attending. Flights and accommodation can cost up to $8000 for one tournament.
This is a shout out for a little bit of support to help the team to cover the costs to attend tournaments, wheelchair maintenance and registration fees so that we can proudly represent the Bay of Plenty.
We would be incredibly grateful! Arohamai
