Is this legit? The newspaper article says they re mortgaged the property to build the new gallery. Banks won’t lend money on an uninsured property.

NZ Herald says they re-mortgaged the home but it’s actually their land they mortgaged off, the small workshop room at the back where Aaron did his art and the “home” was actually built to be a workshop because at the time they could not afford to build a dwelling. Both were purchased with savings and was not insured.

Sorry for the confusion.

They definitely have no insurance.
